Update: Cover Art Change for Season 8 DVD Set

Warner Bros. has released a statement saying that the original artwork was the correct artwork for general retail release. The cover art with the Daily Planet on it (left) is meant to be exclusively available at one
retailer (unknown at the moment). Therefore, the original cover art of Clark and Lois will be available in both standard DVD
and Blu-ray version.
Season 9 Not Last Season??

Rumors have been going around saying that season 9 was to be Smallville's last. SciFi Wire got the chance to interview Justin Hartley while at the Saturn Awards, who spoke about season 9 maybe not Smallville's last:
"Look, they're so busy right now, they don't know if they're doing one
more season or eight more seasons or two more seasons. They have no idea.
So we'll see. I've spoken to them a couple weeks ago and had kind of a
vague conversation with them about concept and stuff."

Justin Hartley attended the Saturn Awards a few days ago. Collider.com was able to video interview the actor, who spoke about Comic-Con, his favorite episode from season 8, General Zod, Smallville TV-movie rumors and much more.

Cover Art Change for Season 8 DVD Set??

It seems that the cover art for the Season 8 DVD set of Smallville has been changed to what you can see on the left. As you can tell, it seems that none of the characters are to appear on the cover. This change has only occurred for Blu-Ray according to Amazon but nothing has been confirmed yet by Warner Bros.

Smallville Panel at Comic-Con Update!!

Smallville will be back at
Comic-Con this year!
We now have new information about who we can expect to see at the Smallville panel. The following is more information from the Warner Bros release:
Smallville Screening and Q&A – Comic-Con favorite Smallville
returns, as showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson join cast
members including Smallville’s Lois Lane – Erica Durance (House of the
Dead) – Justin Hartley (Gemini Division), Cassidy Freeman (Finishing
the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee) and others (yet to be
announced) to talk about the year ahead, answer fan questions and give
an exclusive sneak peek at clips from season nine. Award-winning comic
book writer, Emmy®-nominated film and television writer/producer, and
Smallville alum Jeph Loeb (Heroes) will moderate the session. From
Tollin/Robbins Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television,
Smallville will air Fridays at 8:00 p.m. this fall on The CW,
premiering September 25. Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season will be
released on DVD and Blu-ray™ Hi Def August 25. Room 6BCF.
The
Smallville panel is to occur Sunday, July 26 from 10:30am to 11:30am.
Ain't It Cool News has posted some news about a huge rumor that has surfaced about Smallville. It seems that there might be a movie-length Smallville-related project to finish off the show after it's 9th season entitled Metropolis. Here is what the source to the website wrote:
On black with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and a transparent grey Superman "S" watermark behind the text:
METROPOLIS
CHRISTMAS 2010
Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place (can't remember).
At the moment, there is no official announcement about this and is therefor only a rumor.

Callum Blue Cast as Zod

According to TVGuide, British actor, Callum Blue has been cast on Smallville as the DC Comics villain Zod as a season regular.
You may remember Blue from shows like Related, The Tudors, Dead Like Me and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
We got a small sneek preview at the end of the season that Zod was back when Tess saw the villain rise from a fiery krytonian "Z" on the Luthor mansion's lawn.. For some time, there had been speculation that Sam Witwer would be playing Zod but this did not come through.
